Exciting News…

Hello friends! It’s been a while! I know I’ve mentioned I’ve had a lot going on with a heavy and demanding workload with my day job, but there are quite a few other reasons I haven’t had a chance to sit down and write. One of my best friends is engaged and I’ve been helping them with their new house, as well as travelling a lot for work and fun (Paris, Northern France, Boone, NC and Denver, Colorado), and two friends’ wedding festivities!

Life has been wonderful, but it’s been crazy and I haven’t had a second to stop and think… or write. It pains me to be away from my blog for long lengths at a time, but I’m at a particularly busy time in my life. Which brings me to the other reason I’m particularly busy. But you’ll have to read the story below to find out 😉

It happened on August 5 late morning. Chet and I had decided to go down to Carolina beach for the weekend like we normally do several time a year, but Chet was adamant about going somewhere new this time, so we headed out to Fort Fisher. It looked like it was going to storm, and I wasn’t quite sure why he was so eager to get there before the rain hit (I figured as early as it was, we could let it pass and go later). We started walking along the water, and he pointed to a nearby gazebo that overlooked the ocean. We walked there and stood under it, looking out at the water for a couple of minutes. He said something from behind me, and when I turned around he was getting on one knee. As soon as he asked me to marry him and I said yes, the rain came pouring down around us. He likes to say he planned it that way… but all joking aside, it was the perfect day. We’re engaged!!

Since then, I’ve minimally planned, but we do have a date and place down: September 29, 2018. And now I’m simultaneously trying to pack my apartment up, plan a wedding, stay caught up at work, and we’re 3 weeks away from my future sister and brother in law’s wedding! Lots of things going on, but all happy things I’m incredibly thankful for.

x Sarah
