Spring Trends: Spots and Bows

{H&M spotted dress / Donna Karan vintage belt (similar vintage belt) / gold pumps (similar, and these DVF versions are gold with a snakeskin twist!) / bow necklace (used a sash I had – so easy!) / vintage clutch (love this one and this one is $35!)}

Have I mentioned the weather in NC has been gorgeous lately? 70’s all week! I spent the other afternoon at a local outdoor cafe to soak in the warm air. I can’t get enough of being outside — seriously, it’s one of the biggest roots of my happiness! I’m 100% one of those people who, if it rains 7 days in a row, feels down or off in some way. If I spend a lot of time outside with fresh air and sunshine, I couldn’t be in a better mood. In short, I’m really really really excited about this weather — can you tell? 🙂

I wanted to talk a little about two trends that are really big right now — the refined polka dot and the bow trend. I’ve never been a huge polka dot fan, partly because I used to associate it with how I used to see them (really huge overpowering dots plastered all over a top or dress). Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I am much more drawn to the trend now that I’m seeing them on different fabrics and in subtle-sized dots. I love love love the playfulness of them on pieces like this and this.

The bow trend is also sweeping the streets, from being worn on the head like Marchesa and Tory Burch models did on the runway during NYFW, or on the neck like some celebrities did during the Golden Globes — they’re becoming a creative way of adding a fun and different accessory to your look!
