Home Is Where the Window Is

living room window nookI’ve always been an outdoor person. I don’t mean playing five sports then cycling or running for miles until the sun goes down (though I do love a good run or hike) — I like to simply exist outside. If an entire day goes by and I haven’t enjoyed it at least once, something doesn’t sit right with me, and I feel off.

When looking for an apartment, one of the things I looked for in particular was big windows and a space filled with light. It’s important to me to have an area in the home that feels like I’m a part of the day. When browsing through photos a few weeks ago I came across a beautiful photo of a person sitting by their window and looking out into their yard. It dawned on me how important it is to have a space like that to just exist — read, write, think, etc. I compiled these photos for inspiration. If you have a unique space or a room with a lot of light, I urge you to take advantage of it!

  1. I love these. I wish my apartment had more big windows. I think it is a great idea to look for them when apartment shopping.

  2. I love this! The idea, the pictures, everything. I also try to spend some time in nature every day. It just brings about a sort of peace- especially if your life is hectic at the moment.

  3. You are so right about lots of light flooding in totally making a space be your happy place!
These pics you selected are so inspiring – gorgeous!

  4. beautiful! I love the natural light, I love that in my own apartment. Unfortunately I only really get it in our office, and sometimes a little bit in the kitchen. But natural light is heavenly!

  5. I’ve always wanted a big bay window, to sit and see the world from my cosy little set up next to the window! 🙂
