Packing for NYC

This past week, I headed to NYC to visit my sister. It was the first time visiting in a long time, so I was excited to finally be able to go! I keep several general rules in mind when packing, especially when I know I’m going to be there for more than a short weekend:

1.) Layers. Especially in the fall, city weather can change greatly on a day-to-day basis. I made sure to pack a classic tee, light sweater, and jacket that go with the majority of what I’m bringing along, so I can mix and match depending on the weather and occasion.

2.) A day-to-night outfit. When on a trip, a lot of fun and unexpected events come up. Often times I’m on-the-go all day and head straight to dinner/drinks, so packing pieces that are both comfortable for day and appropriate for night is essential.

3.) Comfortable Flats. I always do a lot of walking in the city, so I never leave my flats behind.

4.) A versatile statement piece. I look for statement jewelry that goes with the majority of what I’m bringing along so my outfits feel finished and polished without overloading the suitcase.
